Welcome to the website of Acacia Hill School!

Our school is adjacent to the Acacia Hill sacred site which is a cocoon site in the traditional Mbantua Yeperenye Caterpillar Story, and this is reflected in our school logo. Acacia Hill School’s vision is ‘endless possibilities’, and its purpose is to ‘foster learning without limits’. Our school values are ‘confident’, ‘caring’, ‘connected’ and ‘community’.

Acacia Hill School is the only specialist school in Central Australia, catering for young people who live with intellectual impairment or multiple complex disabilities. There are approximately 105 students ranging in age from 3-18 years. Approximately one-third of our students attend satellite classes located in four local mainstream schools and the current senior years school. Approximately 80% of our students are First Nations, and approximately half our students are on the autism spectrum. Nearly all our students need support with communication – whichever modes are suitable, accessible and meaningful for them. The curriculum of Acacia Hill School utilises the pre-Foundation Levels of the Victorian Curriculum and then follows the F-10 Australian Curriculum developmentally, so students are catered for at their learning level, with attention paid to their chronological age. A modified NTCET and VET curriculum is being commenced in 2026 for Year 10-12 students. Every student has a communication goal in their individual annual Educational Adjustment Plan (EAP).
